Leading Through Learning Case Study: Woodbury Public Schools

To accompany our Leading Through Learning toolkit, we created a fictional case study. The story of Woodbury Public Schools (WPS), a midsize school district in a midsize city in the United States illustrates how organizational leaders and other actors move through the stages of Evolutionary Learning, often stepping back to revise ideas or plans as they learn more. The case study also illustates what Evolutionary Learning might look like in a district of about 40,000 students of whom more than 50% are either Black or Latino, 80% qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, 30% live in homes where a language other than English is spoken, and 15% qualify for special education services.
