Leading through Learning: Stakeholder Proximity Map

The stakeholders proximity map is one way to decide to understand your stakeholders and consider how you want to involve them in developing and implementing the initiative. Use this template by following the steps below.

  1. Brainstorm a list of stakeholders. Write each stakeholder on a sticky note.
  2. Arrange stakeholders on the diagram based on how closely they are situated to the initiative’s core, with those closest to the core on the right and those furthest away on the left.
  3. On each sticky note, write what each stakeholder might have to gain or lose as a result of your initiative.
  4. As prompted by Step 3, revise where you have placed each stakeholder on the diagram.
