Maura Shetty

Maura Shetty is a Consultant at CPRL. Her work focuses on literacy, early childhood education, educator practice, and strengthening connections across schools, families, out-of-school time programs, and community organizations. At CPRL, Maura supports cross-sector initiatives focused on strengthening literacy instruction and creating greater coherence across New York City’s learning ecosystem. Her work includes developing practical tools and resources for educators and families, facilitating stakeholder engagement and professional learning, and supporting partners to translate research and evidence into practice.

Prior to joining CPRL, Maura was an Assistant Professor and Elementary Content Lead at Relay Graduate School of Education, where she designed and taught graduate coursework in early literacy, culturally responsive pedagogy, Universal Design for Learning, and inclusive instructional practice. Maura began her career as an early childhood and special education teacher and later served as a founding school leader in Brooklyn, where she helped develop inclusive instructional models for students with disabilities.

Maura’s published research includes “The Impact of COVID-19 on Teachers’ Mental Health,” published in the Journal for Multicultural Education. Her doctoral research examined how teacher educators implemented social and emotional competencies during the COVID-19 pandemic. She earned her Ed.D. in Leadership and Learning in Organizations from Vanderbilt University, an M.S.Ed. from Hunter College School of Education, and a B.A. in Art History and Peace and Justice Studies from Tufts University.
