SXSW EDU panel offers insights on strengthening family-school connections with ed tech

March 11, 2025

Technology is changing the education landscape and creating an opportunity to engage families in their children’s learning. On March 4, CPRL Director Grace McCarty joined Robin Hood Learning + Tech Fund's Laina Vlasnik Yip, NYC Public Schools' Nicole Reid Christopher, and The GIANT Room's Azi Jamalian for a conversation at SXSW EDU on how they are using the proliferation of AI and other ed tech to strengthen school-family partnerships and support student learning.

Grounded in CPRL's research on the work of 20+ New York City-based school systems, schools, and support organizations to design, test, and measure new ways of activating the “tech-powered instructional core,” the conversation includes

  • Insights from Dr. Christopher on how the largest school system in the country is partnering with families to support the roll out of its system-wide literacy initiative
  • The GIANT Room's innovative uses of AI to create co-learning experiences for students and their families
